I had never heard of shave oil, but a friend got me hooked on it.
What you do is put a small amount (the size of a nickle) on your palm rub your hands together and than apply to your face. This is very sticky so make sure you wash your hands before you use your razor. Your beard will have a sticky feel to it and your hair will be standing straight up. You than apply your normal shaving cream over your face. You will get the closest shave of your life.

Now onto the cost of the Art of Shaving oil. It is costly and there are cheaper oils out there. However none of the cheaper brands smell as nice as the Art of Shaving and for that alone it is worth the price. The one detractor to using the oil is that you will go thru your normal razor blades in half the time, so if you hate buying blades the shave oil may not be for you.

I use this shave oil with an old fashioned safety razor and some great shaving cream (Taylor of Old Bond St. Avocado). It’s an excellent product and very easy on my sensitive skin, but I have to say that I prefer Art of Shaving’s lavender-scented oil. Personal taste is all.

not much to be said other than you need these for your merkur razor. These are very sharp, and will give you an amazing shave. If you are new to merkur double edge razors, start slow, and with short strokes; shave with the grain of your face. Switch to other side of the blade after each pass, and rinse in hot water, and then do again. You will become a shaving pro in no time, and wonder how you shaved your whole life without these. Keep your extra blades packed in their original box, and outside the bathroom, such as in a closet until you need to use them.

If you have ever thought about using a safety razor, you are on the right track. I have tried every type of razor out there: disposable, electric, Mach V, whatever. Every one of them has always cut my skin, left razor burn, and my skin has bumps.

My girlfriend had a sample of Dirty English pressed into her hand on 5th Avenue in New York a couple of months ago. I cherished every drop of it, and now I’m looking forward to my full bottle.

This stuff is what Captain Jack Sparrow would smell like when he was clean. If your goal is to smell like the kind of man your date’s father will approve of, DON’T wear this stuff because it smells like sword fights, leather Harley trim, illegal whiskey and galloping a stolen horse with saddlebags full of gold through the woods on a starlit summer night in Louisiana. Don’t wear this if you are trying to give the impression that you are a nice, safe, sensible man.

But holy @#$%, if what you want is to smell like a man that beautiful women would sneak out of their husband’s beds at 3 am to be with, then by all means GET this stuff. Splash a little on and in your mind you will suddenly be wearing black leather hip boots, pirate breeches, a red silk sash, a silk fencing shirt, a black mask and a gleaming, jewel-encrusted rapier.

So far, my experience has been good. I’m still in the process of testing out each of the razors. I’m currently using the Red Dorco (sp) blades, which are top notch so far. Incredibly sharp and high quality. Especially on the second and third pass, the shave is incredibly smooth with no irritation and I get 10 of them! Derby razors also provided good shaves.

The Lord and Persona blades are probably my least favorite. They seem to be wider than the other blades, so the shave isn’t as close or was more irritating. This also could be related to the design of my razor, so take this review with a grain of salt. I’ve yet to try the Astra pack or the Blue Dorcos.

None of the razors showed any sign of rust after extended use and would go at least 3-4 shaves without significant wear. An excellent inexpensive pack with a lot of choices that will last an extremely long time.

Sample packs are really the way to go when trying to find blades that work well with your shaving regimen. I have started shaving exclusively with a safety razor the past several months and have been trying various blades. The sample packs make this much easier and cheaper than buying a bunch of blades from each manufacturer, which I had previously done.
I highly recommend that people try these packs out for themselves and don’t rely solely on single manufacturers until you find the right one for your face. I fell for the hype on a couple of the big name blade makers only to buy a bunch of their blades and receive mediocre results. Of the 10 or so brands I’ve used, I have found a brand that works great for me and it is all thanks to this sample pack.

as a former US Marine and someone who has always liked to keep his hair short (not bald!), I have gone through dozens of clippers and trimmers in my day. so far, they’ve all been pretty much the same – mediocre. this set however, is perfect for my needs. the clippers work smoother and better than any other i’ve used, and the trimmer cuts nice and close for a great beard/sideburns outline, or to shape the base of the hair on the back of the neck. the set as priced is a phenomenal deal. i think i paid $60+ elsewhere, and I’d do it again.

This is a great high-quality set. I owned cheaper hairclippers and comparatively speaking to this product, they were cheap and wonky. The larger buzzer feels very smooth and way quieter than the others I’ve used. I usually buzz my own hair, but the main reason I bought this set was because I now give my young sons haircuts and they are super-sensitive to the blade when I would do the trimming around the ears and back. With this set, they now love getting haircuts from Dad. One last thing that should be noted, that the description doesn’t mention is that the package comes with attachments for both buzzers. The case is very handy, too. Overall, a great package that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality package at a great price.
